Here is one way that I put cording on my ornaments:
Step 1
When stitching the front and back pieces together leave a 1" opening at the top. Be sure to center the opening. This will be where you insert the hanging hoop so you want it to hang straight.
Step 2
1) At one end of the cording form a loop for hanging.
2) Place a pin to secure. You will be hand sewing this together.
3) Leave a 1" tail (see circled area). This will be inserted into the opening at the top of the ornament.
Step 3
With a needle and thread join to form a loop for hanging. This stitched area will be visable so select a thread that matches the cording.
Step 4
Insert the 1" cording tail into the opening. I use a hemostat to do this. Be sure to center the stitched area of the cording, pictured in the circle A, at the center top.
Step 5
Fold the cording around the ornament. I use small pins to secure before stitching.
Step 6
Tuck the end of the cording into the opening at the top.
Step 7
Hand stitch cording in place. As you near the end you will need to stitch the center opening closed and then stitch the last bit of cording. Take a few stitches to secure the loop to the end of the cording. See A.
